How we work

Our process in 4 steps

  1. No-obligation quote

Send us the document you want translated into Armenian. You receive a competitive quote within 1 hour on working days. Short lines, one dedicated project manager who is there for you.

  2. Assigning a translator

One of our specialist Armenian translators gets to work. For certified translations, a professional translator who issues a certified statement of accuracy; for business, technical, legal or medical texts, a specialist from that field.

  3. Translation, QA and revision

Once the experienced Armenian translator has completed the text, a second specialist carries out a thorough quality check and revision.

  4. Delivery

You receive the Armenian translation digitally by email, in the same layout as the original. Certified translations are also sent by registered post where a hard copy is required.

Certified or standard? How to choose the right Armenian translation

  • Choose certified

When an authority requires an official, certified translation: the Home Office, courts, notaries, registrars or a foreign government. Escalated to notarisation or FCDO apostille where needed.

  • Choose standard

For business publication, websites, marketing and internal documentation. Faster and without certification, with the same specialist translator.

Not sure? Send your document and we will advise which form the receiving authority expects.

What non-native translators and machine translation miss in Armenian

Many teams speak good Armenian and AI tools translate in seconds. Yet in business, legal and medical Armenian texts, non-native translators and machine translation make the kind of mistakes that cost you credibility or legal validity. A few examples we prevent:

  • Eastern and Western Armenian confused

    Voorbeeld:

A diaspora document in Western Armenian rendered in Eastern Armenian conventions reads as out of place to the receiving community, and the same applies in reverse.

    Onze aanpak:

We confirm up front which variant suits your source document and the authority that will receive the text, then hold to it across the document.

  • Transliteration of names

    Voorbeeld:

An Armenian name can be rendered into the Latin alphabet in several ways; a mismatch with the passport leads to identity confusion at authorities.

    Onze aanpak:

We follow the spelling in your Armenian identity document, and apply consistent transliteration to ISO 9985 where no passport is the reference.

  • Spelling reform ignored

    Voorbeeld:

Eastern Armenian uses a reformed orthography (1922) while the diaspora retains the classical spelling; mixed in one document, the text looks inconsistent.

    Onze aanpak:

We keep a single orthographic convention within each document, matched to the chosen variant and target country.

  • False legal equivalence

    Voorbeeld:

A role or office title from an Armenian deed does not automatically carry the same meaning in English law — a notarial figure in Armenia is not always a like-for-like under common law.

    Onze aanpak:

We match role and office titles to the legal system of your target country, working with your legal adviser where needed.

Waar Armenian wordt gesproken

Armenian is not a single market. A certificate from the Republic of Armenia is written in Eastern Armenian, while a document from the diaspora communities in Lebanon, France or the United States usually uses Western Armenian. The two variants differ in spelling, vocabulary and verb forms. We match the variant to your source document and to the authority that will receive the translation, and confirm that choice up front in the quote.

What is the difference between Eastern and Western Armenian?
Eastern Armenian (hy-AM) is the standard language of the Republic of Armenia, used there in government, media and education. Western Armenian is the variant of the historic diaspora (Lebanon, France, the United States, Argentina) and is classified as endangered by UNESCO. The two differ in pronunciation, vocabulary and some verb forms. We confirm up front which variant applies, based on your source document and the authority that will receive the translation.
How do you certify an Armenian translation for use in the UK?
The United Kingdom has no sworn-translator institute, so there is no "sworn translator" as a legal office here. For official acceptance we provide certified translation: a signed and dated statement of accuracy from the translator or the agency, with our contact details. Where a body asks for more, this can be escalated to notarisation by a solicitor or notary public, or to an apostille or legalisation through the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). Armenia has been a party to the Hague Apostille Convention since 1994, so an apostille is often the route for documents moving between Armenia and the UK. We confirm in the quote which level your receiving authority requires.
How does Ecrivus handle the Armenian alphabet and the transliteration of names?
The Armenian alphabet has 39 letters and has been in use since 405 CE. For names we follow the spelling in your Armenian identity document, so there is no mismatch with a passport. Where no document is the reference, we apply consistent transliteration to ISO 9985 (Armenian-to-Latin). This prevents identity confusion at authorities such as UKVI, the courts or the General Register Office.
Which Armenian documents does an Armenian translation agency most often handle?
An Armenian translation agency most often handles birth and marriage certificates, diplomas, notarial powers of attorney, contracts and court documents, frequently in a family-law or diaspora context. UK-specific cases we see often are Home Office and UKVI immigration documents, university admissions assessed by UK ENIC and HMCTS court papers. For each document type we confirm the approach, the variant (Eastern or Western) and any certification in the quote.
How quickly will I receive a quote, and what about the lead time?
On working days you receive a quote within 1 hour, with a first indication of price and lead time. The lead time for the translation itself depends on document type, volume, the required variant and any certification, and is confirmed in the quote. For tight deadlines we confirm a workable rush schedule up front rather than promising a fixed turnaround.
What if I need a legal document translated into or out of Armenian?
For legal Armenian translation — contracts, judgments, powers of attorney, notarial deeds — we pair you with a translator who has a legal background and match terminology to common-law or civil-law conventions as the case requires. Our legal-translation page goes deeper into certification, the closing statement of accuracy and the differences between legal systems. See [legal translation](/en/services/legal-translation/).
Why choose an Armenian translation agency instead of finding a freelance translator yourself?
An Armenian translation agency takes the coordination off your hands. We select the specialist who fits your document and the right variant — Eastern or Western Armenian — arrange certification, notarisation or legalisation where an authority requires it, and have the work checked by a second reviewer where the legal field, risk profile or volume requires it. You keep one point of contact for variant, transliteration, terminology, scheduling and delivery, all under a single quote. A skilled freelance translator does excellent work too; the difference an agency adds is bringing those moving parts together so you are not managing them separately.
