We recommend European Spanish (es-ES, RAE conventions) by default for the Spanish market and EU contexts. Latin American Spanish (es-419), or a specific country such as Mexico (es-MX) or Argentina (es-AR), is delivered for LatAm target markets. Mixing the two variants in one document — coche against carro, vosotros against ustedes — reads as the wrong variant to your reader, so we confirm the variant in the quote based on your target country and audience and hold to it throughout.

The UK has no sworn-translator institute, so there is no "sworn translator" as a legal office here. For official acceptance we provide certified translation: a signed and dated statement of accuracy from the translator or the agency, with our contact details. Where a body asks for more, this can be escalated to notarisation by a solicitor or notary public, or to an apostille or legalisation through the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). For documents intended for Spain, the official translator there is appointed as a traductor-intérprete jurado by the Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores; we coordinate the route your receiving authority requires and confirm it in the quote.

The difference runs through vocabulary, form of address and legal terminology. European Spanish (es-ES) uses vosotros and words such as coche and ordenador; Latin American Spanish uses ustedes and, for example, carro and computadora, with further country-level differences such as the Argentinian voseo. For official documents the legal terminology also varies by legal system.
