How we work

Our process in 4 steps

  1. No-obligation quote

Send us the document you want translated into Kurdish. You receive a competitive quote within 1 hour on working days. Short lines, one dedicated project manager who is there for you.

  2. Assigning a translator

One of our specialist Kurdish translators gets to work. For certified translations, a professional translator who issues a certified statement of accuracy; for business, technical, legal or medical texts, a specialist from that field.

  3. Translation, QA and revision

Once the experienced Kurdish translator has completed the text, a second specialist carries out a thorough quality check and revision.

  4. Delivery

You receive the Kurdish translation digitally by email, in the same layout as the original. Certified translations are also sent by registered post where a hard copy is required.

Certified or standard? How to choose the right Kurdish translation

  • Choose certified

When an authority requires an official, certified translation: the Home Office, courts, notaries, registrars or a foreign government. Escalated to notarisation or FCDO apostille where needed.

Not sure? Send your document and we will advise which form the receiving authority expects.

What non-native translators and machine translation miss in Kurdish

Many teams speak good Kurdish and AI tools translate in seconds. Yet in business, legal and medical Kurdish texts, non-native translators and machine translation make the kind of mistakes that cost you credibility or legal validity. A few examples we prevent:

  • The wrong dialect assumed

    Voorbeeld:

Handing a Sorani document from Erbil to a Kurmanji translator produces an unusable text — the two dialects differ sharply in vocabulary and grammar.

    Onze aanpak:

We establish whether the document is Kurmanji or Sorani up front and assign the right specialist translator.

  • The wrong script

    Voorbeeld:

Rendering Sorani in Latin script, or Kurmanji in Arabic script, makes a document unreadable to the intended reader and can lead a UK authority to refuse it.

    Onze aanpak:

We confirm the script (Latin or Arabic-derived, RTL) per project before the work starts.

  • Zazaki mistaken for Kurdish

    Voorbeeld:

Zazaki is a language in its own right, not a Kurdish dialect, although it is sometimes labelled as one. A Kurdish translator cannot simply take on a Zazaki document.

    Onze aanpak:

We identify whether the text is Kurdish or Zazaki and coordinate Zazaki separately where needed.

  • The legalisation route confused by country of origin

    Voorbeeld:

An Iraqi document has followed the apostille route since 2021, but Syria and Iran are not party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so their documents require consular legalisation instead.

    Onze aanpak:

We determine the correct legalisation route by country of origin and guide you through it, working with your adviser where needed.

Wereldwijde dekking

Waar Kurdish wordt gesproken

Kurdish is not a single, uniform language. Sorani from Iraqi Kurdistan is written in an Arabic-derived script from right to left; Kurmanji from Turkey and the European diaspora is written in Latin script, following the Hawar alphabet of 1932. A document in the wrong dialect or script is of no use to its reader, and a UK authority may reject it. We establish which dialect and which script your document uses before we begin, and confirm that choice in the quote.

Which Kurdish dialect does Ecrivus support — Kurmanji, Sorani or Zazaki?
We mainly support Kurmanji (Latin script — Turkey, Syria and the European diaspora, the most commonly requested variant in the UK) and Sorani (Arabic-derived script, right-to-left — Iraqi Kurdistan and western Iran). Zazaki is a language in its own right, which we coordinate separately where it is needed. We confirm the dialect and the script per project in the quote; we never simply assume one.
How do I know which dialect or script my document uses?
The script usually gives the dialect away: a Latin alphabet with letters such as ê, î, û and ç points to Kurmanji, while an Arabic-derived script that runs from right to left points to Sorani. If you are unsure, send us a scan; we establish the dialect and the script before you receive a quote, with no obligation.
Do I need a certified Kurdish translation for the Home Office or a court?
The UK has no sworn-translator institute, so there is no "sworn translator" as a legal office here. For the Home Office, UKVI, asylum claims and HMCTS courts you will usually need a certified translation: a signed and dated statement of accuracy from the translator or the agency, with our contact details. Where a body asks for more, this can be escalated to notarisation by a solicitor or notary public, or to an apostille or legalisation through the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). We confirm in the quote which level your receiving authority requires.
Does a Kurdish document need an apostille to be used in the UK?
It depends on the document's country of origin. Iraq (Iraqi Kurdistan) joined the Hague Apostille Convention in 2021, and Turkey has been a party since 1985, so documents from those countries follow the apostille route. Syria and Iran are not party to the convention, so their documents require consular legalisation instead. We determine the correct route by country of origin and guide you through it. You can check the UK process at [GOV.UK — get a document legalised](https://www.gov.uk/get-document-legalised).
Which document types does Ecrivus translate into or from Kurdish?
Common cases include asylum and immigration papers (Home Office interview records, supporting correspondence), family-reunification files, birth and marriage certificates, divorce and custody documents, diplomas from Iraqi Kurdistan and family-law correspondence. Per document type we confirm the approach, the dialect, the script and any certification in the quote.
What if I need a legal document translated into or from Kurdish?
For legal Kurdish translation — judgments, asylum papers, divorce and custody files — we pair you with a translator who has a legal background and deliver certified work where the legal field, risk profile or volume requires it. Confirming dialect and script up front is non-negotiable for this work. Our legal-translation page goes deeper into certification and the closing statement of accuracy. See [legal translation](/en/services/legal-translation/).
Why choose a Kurdish translation agency instead of finding a freelance translator yourself?
A Kurdish translation agency takes the coordination off your hands. We establish the dialect and script up front, select the specialist who fits, arrange certification, notarisation or legalisation where an authority requires it, and have the work checked by a second reviewer. You keep one point of contact for dialect, script, the legalisation route, scheduling and delivery, all under a single quote. A skilled freelance translator does excellent work too; the difference an agency adds is bringing those moving parts together so you are not managing them separately.
