  2. Assigning a translator

One of our specialist Pashto translators gets to work. For certified translations, a professional translator who issues a certified statement of accuracy; for business, technical, legal or medical texts, a specialist from that field.

  3. Translation, QA and revision

Once the experienced Pashto translator has completed the text, a second specialist carries out a thorough quality check and revision.

  4. Delivery

You receive the Pashto translation digitally by email, in the same layout as the original. Certified translations are also sent by registered post where a hard copy is required.

Certified or standard? How to choose the right Pashto translation

  • Choose certified

What non-native translators and machine translation miss in Pashto

Many teams speak good Pashto and AI tools translate in seconds. Yet in business, legal and medical Pashto texts, non-native translators and machine translation make the kind of mistakes that cost you credibility or legal validity. A few examples we prevent:

  • Pashto and Dari mistaken for one another

    Voorbeeld:

An Afghan document is supplied simply as "Afghan", when it is written in Dari rather than Pashto — two distinct languages with different scripts.

    Onze aanpak:

We determine for each document whether the source is Pashto, Dari or bilingual before translation begins, and confirm that in the quote.

  • Name transcription from the Pashto-Arabic script

    Voorbeeld:

A single name can be rendered into the Latin alphabet in several ways, so the spelling on a certificate, a passport and a Home Office file does not match.

    Onze aanpak:

We align the transcription with your existing official documents so names stay consistent across every paper.

  • Bilingual documents issued before 2021

    Voorbeeld:

Afghan official papers often carry both Pashto and Dari on a single page; translating only one language leaves an incomplete file.

    Onze aanpak:

We translate both languages where needed and mark which part comes from which language, so the receiving body can assess the full document.

  • Right-to-left layout lost in conversion

    Voorbeeld:

When a file is poured into a left-to-right template, the right-to-left alignment, the numerals and the position of stamps can be disrupted.

    Onze aanpak:

We preserve the reading direction and the original document structure, including the placement of stamps and signatures.

Wereldwijde dekking

Waar Pashto wordt gesproken

Pashto is not a single market. An Afghan file from Kabul calls for different terminology and spelling than a document from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan, and many Afghan papers issued before 2021 are bilingual Pashto-Dari. We match the variant, script and register to the origin of your document and to the body that will receive it, and confirm that choice up front in the quote.

What is the difference between Pashto and Dari?
They are two distinct languages, both official in Afghanistan. Pashto (`ps`) is an Eastern Iranian language with its own Pashto-Arabic script; Dari (`prs`) is Afghan Persian and uses the Perso-Arabic script. We determine for each document which language it is and never substitute one for the other. Getting this wrong is the most common reason an Afghan file is handled incorrectly.
How do you certify a Pashto translation in the UK?
The UK has no sworn-translator institute, so there is no "sworn translator" as a legal office here. For official acceptance our Pashto translation agency provides certified translation: a signed and dated statement of accuracy from the translator or the agency, with our contact details. Where a body asks for more, this can be escalated to notarisation by a solicitor or notary public, or to an apostille or legalisation through the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). We confirm in the quote which level your receiving authority requires.
For which procedures is Pashto most often requested?
Pashto is most often requested for Home Office and UKVI asylum claims by Afghan applicants, family reunification, diploma recognition and humanitarian casework. Many Afghan official documents issued before 2021 are bilingual Pashto-Dari; we translate both parts where that is needed so the receiving body has the full file.
Which professional bodies do you work with for Pashto translation?
We work with native specialist translators and reference the recognised UK professional bodies — the ITI (Institute of Translation and Interpreting), the CIOL (Chartered Institute of Linguists) and, for interpreting, the NRPSI (National Register of Public Service Interpreters). These are bodies of reference for the profession; we name them so you can see the standard the work is held to, and we match each Pashto project to a translator who knows the relevant variant and document type.
Which variant of Pashto does Ecrivus deliver?
We match the variant to the origin of your document: Standard Pashto (the Kabul register) for Afghan official papers, or the Peshawari variant for documents from Pakistan. For documents of southern Afghan origin we use Kandahari conventions where the spelling differs. We confirm the variant in the quote so the receiving authority recognises the text.
How quickly will I receive a quote, and what about the lead time?
On working days you receive a quote within 1 hour. The lead time for the translation itself depends on document type, volume, language pair and any required certification, and is confirmed in the quote. For tight deadlines we confirm a workable rush schedule up front rather than promising a fixed turnaround.
How does Ecrivus verify the quality of a Pashto translation?
We combine native specialist translators with a structured QA layer: a terminology list, a name-transcription check and a second review where the legal field, risk profile or volume requires it. CAT tools (Trados, memoQ, Phrase TMS) keep terminology and name spellings consistent across volume and repeated content, and a translation memory keeps follow-up work aligned and lowers the cost over time.
Why choose a Pashto translation agency instead of finding a freelance translator yourself?
A Pashto translation agency takes the coordination off your hands. We determine whether your source text is Pashto, Dari or bilingual, select the specialist who fits your document, arrange certification, notarisation or legalisation where an authority requires it, and have the work checked by a second reviewer. You keep one point of contact for variant, name transcription, scheduling and delivery, all under a single quote. A skilled freelance translator does excellent work too; the difference an agency adds is bringing those moving parts together so you are not managing them separately.
