Translation from English to Norwegian
For the English → Norwegian direction, we deliver translations for business correspondence with Norwegian partners, oil and gas contracts and HSE documentation (Equinor, Aker BP), shipping documents, fisheries dossiers, financial statements and marketing content for the Norwegian market. Bokmål (no-NB) by default, Nynorsk (no-NN) on request, both regulated by Språkrådet.
Translation from Norwegian to English
For the Norwegian → English direction, we deliver translations of Norwegian documents for UK authorities: birth and marriage certificates, divorce decrees, diplomas, court judgments, financial statements for Norwegian listed companies and EEA procedural papers. Certified via ITI/CIOL-registered translators on request where the UK authority requires it.
Bokmål or Nynorsk — which written form do I need?
Bokmål (`nb`) is used by ~85% of Norwegians (media, government, business). We deliver Bokmål by default. Nynorsk (`nn`) is equally official and required for some Western-Norway municipalities and specific government documents — we deliver Nynorsk on request.
Do I need a certified English-Norwegian translation?
For Home Office visa applications, family courts, civil registries and naturalisation procedures, the UK authority typically requires a certified translation. We deliver certified on request via ITI/CIOL-registered translators in both directions.
What is the difference between Norwegian, Swedish and Danish?
Three distinct official Scandinavian languages forming a dialect continuum with strong written mutual intelligibility. Bokmål Norwegian is closer in writing to Danish; Nynorsk closer to rural-Norwegian dialect material. We never substitute them automatically.
Does a Norwegian document need an apostille for use in the UK?
Norway has been party to the Hague Apostille Convention (1961) since 1983. Norwegian documents can be legalised via apostille (issued by the fylkesmannen or a notary).
How quickly will I receive a quote for an English-Norwegian translation?
You will receive a response within 1 hour on working days. The full quote follows once direction, document type, written variant (Bokmål or Nynorsk) and certification are clarified.
