About this language pair

English and Mandarin Chinese: one pair, two directions

From English into Mandarin Chinese you translate for business partners, clients and authorities abroad; from Mandarin Chinese into English for UK authorities, banks and employers. In both directions a native specialist translator with domain experience works on your text.

Where an authority asks for a certified translation, we bring in a sworn translator. The translation carries the required declaration, signature and stamp, and we arrange the Apostille or consular legalisation your destination country demands.

Translation from English to Mandarin Chinese

English → Chinese (Mandarin) corporate translation: we deliver in Simplified Chinese (zh-Hans) for Mainland China and Singapore, or Traditional Chinese (zh-Hant) for Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. Sectors and document classes we regularly handle: cross-border M&A (share purchase agreements, asset transfer agreements), articles of association (gōngsī zhāngchéng), board resolutions, due diligence reports, joint-venture and shareholder agreements, NDAs, intercompany loan agreements, and Companies House / Mainland-China-AIC corporate registrations. Since November 2023 mainland China has acceded to the Hague Apostille Convention, simplifying the legalisation route for mainland-China corporate documents.

Translation from Mandarin Chinese to English

Chinese → English corporate translation: for UK or international counterparties acquiring or contracting with Chinese entities. We translate Chinese corporate documentation (Mainland AIC business licences, articles of association, board resolutions) into English with terminology aligned to UK/EU corporate law conventions, and confirm the script variant of the source per project. Process is NDA-bound; sworn certification on request via ITI/CIOL-registered translators.

In practice

How such a project runs

A law firm prepares cross-border proceedings: submissions and exhibits go from English into Mandarin Chinese, foreign deeds and judgments come back for the UK file. Legal specialist translators keep terminology consistent across the whole file, with certification where the court demands it.

Simplified or Traditional Chinese for corporate documentation?
Simplified Chinese (zh-Hans) for Mainland China and Singapore-incorporated entities; Traditional Chinese (zh-Hant) for Taiwan-, Hong Kong-, or Macau-incorporated counterparties. Some Hong Kong M&A deals use bilingual English–Traditional Chinese SPAs by convention.
Does an M&A document from Mainland China need an Apostille for UK use?
Since November 2023 mainland China has acceded to the Hague Apostille Convention. SPAs, articles of association, and board resolutions originating from mainland China can be legalised by Apostille for UK use; previously consular legalisation was required. Hong Kong and Macau have applied the Apostille for longer.
How does Ecrivus handle confidentiality on M&A documentation?
All M&A and corporate work runs under signed NDAs with our translators and project managers. We restrict file access to the assigned linguist team, use secure file-transfer channels, and confirm encryption-in-transit and at-rest configurations on request. We do not retain documents beyond the project retention window agreed with you.
Can Ecrivus deliver bilingual SPAs (English – Chinese) in side-by-side format?
Yes. For Hong Kong M&A and certain Mainland-China JVs we deliver bilingual SPAs in side-by-side or vertical-bilingual layout, with terminology aligned across columns and Pinyin-romanised proper names where the English context requires it.
Do you align translation memory across multiple deals for the same client?
Yes. For repeat M&A clients we maintain a client-specific translation memory and termbase, ensuring consistent rendering of corporate vocabulary, party-name conventions, and recurring contract clauses across deals.
Do you provide certified Chinese-English translations for Companies House filings or comparable Mainland AIC submissions?
Yes. We deliver certified Chinese-English translations of Companies House extracts, Mainland China AIC business licences, articles of association, and director appointments via ITI/CIOL-registered translators where the receiving registrar requires certification.
How quickly will I receive a quote for a corporate translation project?
On working days you receive a response within 30 minutes. The lead time is confirmed in the quote based on document type, volume, script variant, certification needs, and any deal-driven deadlines.
